Clif's Book World

Adventures from reading books captured within short reviews.

Norwegian Wood - Jay Rubin, Haruki Murakami I was interested in this book because I'm an old Beatles fan, I was a college student in the 60s which is the era this book is written about, this book was a world wide best seller, and I thought it might enhance my understanding of modern Japanese culture. I think the author was trying to write in the spirit of The Great Gatsby. The main character is separated from his girl friend by her mental illness in this case. But the story describes too much sexual activity for me which probably explains why the book was a best seller.
